A different perspective

Every now and then, I see some beautiful design that makes me stop in my tracks. Something so perfect, so simple, that I wonder why it took so long for it to be designed.

The plug on the Breville electric tea kettle is one such design. See how simple? And how many user issues it solves?

No more tugging on the cord, weakening it. Anyone with arthritic hands, or weak hands, can easily pull the plug from the outlet with one finger. With this beautiful design, the comfort of the user and the safety of the appliance is solved.

I wonder how many people it took to design this plug? Did someone design it and then have to fight to get it used? Why did it take so long for this elegant solution to come to market?

Good design isn't hard. It just takes thinking about things from a different perspective.
